The Guardians, meanwhile, needed five games to outlast their division rivals, the Detroit Tigers, taking down AL Cy Young favorite Tarik Skubal in Game 5 to secure their trip to the ALCS. The Guardians also boast a surprisingly strong offense, which finished 12th in the league in home runs (185) just a year after finishing dead last. They've made massive strides in a very short time to keep their championship window open.
